Hi, I’m Tess: writer, psychologist, tour guide and full-time explorer of life beyond the beaten path.

At eighteen, I left the Netherlands to travel the world. What was supposed to be a short trip turned into years of solo adventures across continents, cultures, and crises. When the pandemic hit, I came back home and did something unexpected: I studied psychology at university.
I tried to live the life that was expected of me.
Structure. Stability. Relationship. A desk.
But it didn’t work. My soul itched for something more: for movement, stories, freedom. So I went back to what I love most: guiding others on journeys, both outward and inward.
Now I’m writing a book. A personal, raw and reflective story about freedom and all the mess that comes with it.
What does it really mean to live freely? Is it about travel? Saying no? Letting go of shame? Or refusing to follow a path just because everyone else does?
I don’t have all the answers. But I believe in asking better questions.
So whether I’m hiking in Nepal, leading a group through Thailand, or writing in a Greek café…
I’m always trying to uncover what it means to live life on your own terms.
